However before proceeding to learn those methods, let us understand few important considerations.

First of all, it is important for you to understand that the classes which are deemed as pass/no pass or incomplete do not affect your overall GPA. •    First of all, find out what grading scale is used in your academia. Also find out the decimal point system that your school uses.

•    Identify how many classes you have taken in your current semester and what grades you have received in those subjects. You can ask these details to your class teacher or one of the office administrators.

•    Now sketch three columns. In the first column write the name of the subject/class, in the second column write the grade and in the last column write the grade points keeping in view the above given GPA score table.

•    Now add up all the grade points values to get the total.

•    Now divide the total grade points by the number of classes you have taken. In this case 4

How to Calculate GPA – Credit Hours Method

•    Calculating the GPA using the credit hours method is also a walk in the park. Start with sketching five columns this time. For example:

•    In the above given table you get the grade points for each class by multiplying the scale value of each subject with its respective credit hours. Now add up all the values of the grade points and divide its total value with the total value of the credit hours

Although the calculation is very simple but it is a little time consuming. So if you don’t want to go through all the manual calculations, you can use online GPA calculators.
