Blogging is a way to share information and a reason why students should use tablet PC in class room. Teachers can assign students any topic that they can share live through the blog. Getting real-time comments and responses from the fellow students will make the whole activity more interesting and objective altogether.

Photography is another great source to communicate information. This not only makes the whole learning process more purposeful but interactive as well. With a digital camera in a tablet PC, students can take pictures and videos for their project. Furthermore, they can use photo-editing applications to change or remove any element in a picture or video, making the whole experience fun and entertaining.

8.    Organized Research

Using a tablet PC means that students can research their topic with more time and comfort. Tablets can help students with researching online libraries, taking important notes or even organizing information into a file. A tablet uses a stylus to do all these tasks in a matter of seconds, saving your valuable time and energy. Research done this way is more focused and organized.

Ever since the inception of social media networking websites on internet scene, there has been an ongoing debate among people whether its use is appropriate for students. Many people severely criticizes its use among students, especially school going kids. Majority of them raise this objection for its open and explicit contents. Since people have such serious reservations about the platform and its use among the students, it is extremely important to understand what social media networking websites have to offer to the students. This article will take an insight into the actual benefits that students can avail using a social media platform.

Let us have a look into the world of social media and how it is influencing the students and their activities:

Communication

Considering the recent volatile situation in the globe where you will find more bad news than good, social media is the most reliable and quickest way to share information. Now students can communicate and share news through social media platforms such as Facebook and Twitter only within a matter of seconds. So they can now connect and share any breaking news in their local area or even exchange views on a hot international issue without being interrupted by anyone. While such valuable information is shared, they do not have to meet with each other in person, saving their time and energy.

Engagement through New Media

Social media network is a great source for the students to engage in range of productive activities in the comfort of their home. They can share pictures and links to websites and even chat or post comments to keep in touch with the fellow students and teachers all through the week. If we look at the recent competition among businesses where every company is trying to supersede the other, these social media sources are teaching students the art of surviving in a technology-dominated era. Getting online not only make them more technology literate but also help them develop skills with new media – websites, blogs and social media networking websites.

Faster Learning

With the emergence of tremendous amount of information available through internet, the social media can play an important role to utilize such vast information. By getting familiarized with the diversity of knowledge through social media, student can develop key skills for their future career. Students can now learn different skills on technology and art such as photography and painting. Furthermore, they can learn how to interact and share information among family and friends. Considering the current trend of information exchange among students, one can easily predict a faster and efficient approach to learning.

Social Media Marketing

The emergence of new media, i.e. websites, blogs and social media website, has brought in new ways for businessman to interact with their customer base and potential customers. This has make it mandatory for many students, especially those seeking the marketing degree, to learn how to interact through social media networking websites. For example, if someone majoring in Business Administration with Marketing as core subject; he can develop skills with how new media can be utilized to attract a wider audience for a business. There are number of jobs available for social media marketers in the current labor market with attractive salary.

Conclusion

People have different opinions regarding the use of social media resources among students. While some consider it as innovative and educational, some term it as unethical or immoral. To me, the situation is more concerned with the approach we see it, i.e. either the glass is half empty or half full. It is one’s perception to see things that make the situation different. For some using such resources may look disapproving and unethical and some may consider it as constructive and learning activity. I would conclude that social media does more good to the students than bad. After all, it has changed the way the students communicate and share information, giving them access to plethora of knowledge and learning. As far as issues are concerned with the nature of contents, one can easily find tools to secure kids from exposure to any explicit or adult contents.

How to Carry Yourself in a Job Interview?

job-interview-tips

Job interview brings in feelings of mix emotions in a person. While you are happy that you get an opportunity for a desirable job, you are also nervous about the whole interview affair. Regardless of how happy and nervous you feel, your interview will be as impressive as your body language in the interview room. A cool, calm, and collected body language will show you as a confident fellow and will help you effectively demonstrate your skills and abilities to the interviewer. Although it is normal to feel a little anxious and nervous during an interview, you can make it up for with right attitude in the interview room. Here is how:

Handshake

A firm hand shake is the sign of self-confidence and self-assurance. As soon as you enter into the interview room, the first thing you will expect from the employer is a hand shake. Give him a firm and hard handshake. A weak handshake is a sign of low self-esteem and weakness and shows you as lacking professional manners and ethics.

Eye Contact

Eye contact is another important factor to remember during a job interview. To make a solid impression, you must show confidence, poise and composure as an individual. A firm eye contact does exactly the same. It shows that you are responsive and alert and help you hold the interviewer’s attention. Maintain an eye contact with the employer right from your first handshake.

Take the Right Position While You Sit

While you take your seat, position yourself in such a way that you are directly facing the interviewer and your body is pointing to him. A good body posture will exude the right aura of your personality and will allow you to be comfortable while talking with the interviewer. Lean a little towards the interviewer so that you appear ready for the conversation.

Sit With the Right Posture

How you sit in the interview says a lot about you. Sitting straight and firm shows you as an alert and aggressive person. While a leaning or slouching position shows you a lazy and irresponsible person. As a potential employee, you must assure the interviewer that you are a diligent individual and not a laid back. So always sit straight and avoid crossing your legs or making them wide open.

Use Formal Language

Similar to body language, it is equally important that you use the right language with the interviewer. How you speak with the interviewer also reflects you as a person. The interviewer is giving you an opportunity for a better job and therefore deserves your respect. Never use slang or any dialect and speak only in the standard language. Avoid wasting your time discussing politics and religion and rather focus on your job and the responsibilities of the job position. Do not try to be smart by using business buzz words or jargons and instead speak in simple and precise language. Using industry words are confusing and are not appropriate for a job interview. While you may find a comfort zone with your interviewer, it is important that you remain respectful and polite throughout the interview.

Leave Like a Gentleman

No matter how good or bad your experience in the interview room, you must leave the room like a gentleman. Do not just stand up and leave the room. Be respectful to the employer and thank him for his time. Shake hands with everyone in the room and then leave with a smile.

Remember!

Job interview is often accompanied with some nervous energy, so be composed and do not get carried away with the situation. Do not shake your legs or touch the nose intermittently. If there are more than one interviewer in the room, make eye contact with each of them. Since you will be in the spot light, all the eyes will be fixed on you.

The DO’s And DON’T’s of Searching a Job!

job-search-tips

Do you feel unsatisfied with your current job because there is nothing more to learn? Is your current boss too impossible to ask for a pay-raise or benefit? Do you feel a victim of your workplace politics? If you reply in positive for any of the above-mentioned questions, then it is time for you to consider changing your job. But before you start your hunt for the new job, you must find the right point to start this journey.

Finding a job opportunity gets challenging if you do not know the path to a right job. Other than the required skills and experience, you will need some guidelines to help you in this journey. Here are some DO’s and DON’T’s that will serve as signposts on your roadmap to a successful job search journey:

Do: Be prepared before the D-day comes. Keep all your documents up-to-date that include the resume, cover letter and all your academic and professional documents. Always keep a resume and cover letter in stand-by so that you can use it once you find a job opportunity. Make your dress available in case you get an interview call for the next day.

Don’t: Never use a template resume for every job. You must craft a unique resume and cover letter as per the specifications of the job advertisement. Make sure to use the relevant industry words or keywords wherever possible and cluster them at the right places on your resume and cover letter.

Do: Make the most from what cyber world has to offer you. Create profile at different job portals and websites to maximize your online presence. Majority of the employers use internet to search potential candidates through employment websites. This is safe and easy and at the same time also saves the employer’s time. Put job email alerts on different job websites so that you are informed if there is an opportunity that matches with your skills and experience.

Don’t: Do not ignore online job boards. While the popular employment websites charge a huge amount of fee from the companies, hiring an online job board is significantly affordable for the employers. That is why most of the employers prefer online job boards to hunt potential candidates for a job position, making it a viable job resource for the job seekers.

Do: Invest a little time from your daily schedule to your job hunt process. Dedicate a specific time of the day to this task. This will make you informed about the status of your job application as well as keep you alert and updated for any existing opportunity.

Don’t: Do not forget your professional contacts and referees. There are many jobs in the market that are offered on word of mouth. Typically, these jobs are offered to internal candidates without making the jobs public. So always work on your personal and professional contacts that may help you in any of your future job opportunities.

Do: Consider taking a short course to polish your skills. This will refresh your skills as well as give you an edge over other candidates.

Don’t: Do not waste your time by applying to a wrong job. Never just blindly apply to any available opportunity. Always be sure that the job is open and make sure about the eligibility to qualify for the job position. Check that the requirements of the job match with your skills and experience.

Do: Provide a clear contact number and email address that can easily be accessed at any time of the day. Never provide an email address that suggests adult or crude elements such as hottie@yahoo.com. Never use your work email for corresponding with the potential employers and rather create a separate email address for this purpose.

Don’t: Do not elongate the resume or cover letter. Keep your resume and cover letter to a standard size, i.e. One page for cover letter and 2-3 pages for a resume.

Do: Be positive and wait for the right opportunity. It takes time to grab an attractive job position. Remember that not all jobs are meant for you, so apply to a right opportunity at the right time.

Don’t: Do not give away contact information of your referees without first informing them. Doing so can offend your referee and may spoil your terms with him.
